We have recently been recognized as a BRAG member by Clackamas County's Office of Sustainability for our efforts. Here is just a sample of some of the things we are doing to promote the health of our environment and our customers:
- Buy all natural meats
- Follow MBA Seafood Watch guidelines
- Purchase produce at local farmers markets when available
- Buy plants from local nurseries
- Use live plants and seasonal local flowers as center pieces rather than imports or synthetics plants
- Grow seasonal herbs, tomatoes, and peppers to use and to teach others
- Excess wax from our candles is re-used in a local pottery shop
- Children are provided with dry erase coloring books and non-toxic erasable markers to prevent waste
- Aquarium is stocked with captive bred fish
- We purchase paper products that contain post-consumer recycled-content
- Purchase "green power" from Portland General Electric
- All cleaners used in the restaurant are non-toxic
- Re-use aquarium water on house and garden plants
- Provide "green catering" options for our customers
